Grandmother Buckholt Badger
Grandmother Badger is a special piece. An elder who is wise and watches and logs all that goes on. She has been a labour of love and obsession, I hope you feel her magic.
She is needle felted over a wire armature so can be moved and posed as you wish, though her natural pose is seated. She sits approx 21cm high. She had a shawl handmade from brambles and nettles I gathered on my walks in the woods. . The shawl has copper charms hanging from it for magic.
She carries a basket woven from brambles and birch bark from a tree blown down in the storm. A gift from the woods. It is full of nettle fibre for spinning and a drop spindle from a tiny poppy seed head with spun nettle fibre on it.
She is midway into sewing a blanket for star gazing. It is a piece of blue linen with stars and moon part way stitched and appliqued on it (buy Kath Anderson) Her needle is made from a found antler in the woods.
